Competitions 2008Bernay Cup (Last Updated 07/05/2008)This year's Bernay Cup took place at Lord's Hill Outdoor Recreation Centre on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May. The start was delayed by an hour as the weather forecast accurately predicted that the drizzle still falling at 10 a.m. would clear by 11. It was still fairly damp underfoot, but the terrain dried as the sun tried to break through by around lunchtime - as usual, expertly organised by Jill - and the 15 hardy souls who braved the early morning greyness were rewarded by quite reasonable playing conditions, in the end. The competition was reduced to 4 rounds because of the delayed start. Bernie and Bill both won all four games, with Bernie just edging victory by virtue of a 5 points difference superiority. Hilary and Jean both went into the fourth round unbeaten but lost their final game, Hilary by the narrowest of margins, to come third and fourth respectively. Full results:
